Creating Without Selling

I’ve been feeling trapped.

I have many ideas and half-finished projects that I have just not finished and put into the world.

I’ve always felt as if I should be creating and sharing. I’ve naturally felt drawn to it.

But lately, I haven’t had the time to create and share. I haven’t had the time to put my projects into the world. It’s made me feel bad about myself.

This got me thinking. Are we supposed to create and share everything that we make? Why can we not just create because we enjoy the beauty of creating the thing in the moment. Whether it be: writing a poem, creating a picture book, or possibly making some skincare?

Are we meant to create and share everything?

Is everything we make meant to be shared with others?

My half finished projects consist of a picture book, which I need to get a graphic designer for, an erotic fiction book (which I have been working on for 3 years), an existing book I want to actually share with the world, and a new business idea I want to get off the ground.

Clearly, I have some items I want to share with the world, but my erotic novel – Eh. Well, I am not sure I want to share that with the world.

I’ve since realized, that sometimes doing things, making things, and creating things should be done without the expectation placed on them or ourselves that we should sell or share them with the world.

Sometimes, creating is wonderful, just creating.
